Black on Black.

In my previous posts I have argued against wearing black; I am more for color and prints than blend in with the other black professional outfits. HOWEVER, no matter how hard you try, black will sneak its way in to your wardrobe. It is classy, professional, and easy to style.

Just like Brina said in her Staple Series, black pencil skirts are a great staple to have in your wardrobe as they provide versatility and a convenient go-to option. Mine is from Dynamite, but your favourite store will carry their own version.

I have paired the skirt with a houndstooth patterned blouse to give the black skirt a bit of excitement. Because the pattern is black and white, it pulls together the whole look. The light jacket covers the sleeveless shirt and provides a bit of protection from the weather.

The Michael Kors flats I am wearing are worth the money: they are one of the most comfortable pairs of flats that I have owned. They are also more appealing than heels because who likes to have sore feet at the end of the day. Flats do not have to feel unfeminine; they can still add sophistication to the outfit.

I am not huge on accessories usually but this outfit definitely needed a pop of color. It could have been found in the shoes or a colored blazer, but I chose to wear a baby blue bangle.

What I learned from this outfit is to not be afraid to sound like a hypocrite and wear black. Sometimes you can’t go wrong when pulling off a classic and professional outfit.
